NTA NEET 2020 Exam Postponed: Finally, NTA has decided to postpone NEET 2020 medical entrance exam. HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal tweeted on Thursday that the national medical entrance exam NEET has been postponed.
Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted on Thursday that the national medical entrance exam NEET has been postponed. NEET was earlier scheduled to be held on May 3, but now it has been postponed to the last week of May 2020.
The final date for NEET 2020 will be decided after the situation regarding the Coronavirus pandemic normalizes.
NEET is conducted for admissions to undergraduate MBBS, BDS and AYUSH programmes as well as veterinary courses in various medical colleges around India.
The HRD minister’s tweet states that he has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts NEET and JEE to postpone the exams till the last week of May.
He also encourages students to stay at home and utilize the Covid-19 lockdown time to study for the postponed exams.
JEE postponed earlier in the week
Earlier this week, JEE was also postponed by NTA as per orders from the HRD ministry. JEE was earlier scheduled to begin on April 5. NEET was the second major exam to be postponed.
With India currently under Covid-19 lockdown, the school annual exams in various states across the country have been postponed or forgone for direct promotion of students to the next class based on their year-long performance.
The CBSE and ICSE board exams along with various state board exams have also been postponed.
Other entrance exams yet to be postponed
The ICAR entrance exam is scheduled for May and the JNU entrance exam is scheduled for April but there has been no information regarding their postponement.
Moreover, the National Council for Hotel Management (NCHM) JEE is also scheduled for April but no update has been provided regarding an exam postponement.
